Español or Castellano?

Both Castilian and Spanish are valid terms for the common language spoken in Spain and many Latin American countries. However, the Royal Spanish Academy recommends using Spanish, as it is unambiguous and widely recognized internationally across other languages. In Spain, the term Castilian is sometimes used to distinguish the national language from other co-official languages, such as Catalan, Galician, or Basque.
